Type 1 diabetes

Diabetes mainly constitutes two types ie; type 1 and type 2. It is a lifelong disease that occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin to properly control blood sugar levels Type 1 diabetes is also known with various other names such as juvenile diabetes, Insulin-dependent diabetes, Juvenile onset diabetes, Gestational diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is a dangerous disease but one can live long taking care of various precautionary measures. The initial or very first stage is known as insulitis. Any procession in insulitis leads to type 1 diabetes and can take up to 7years to develop as matured type 1 diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes in Children

The most usual type of diabetes especially in children is type 1 diabetes. In a survey in U.S. it is figured that at least one case of type 1 diabetes is developed in every 600 children.

Forms of Type 1 diabetes

• Idiopathic type 1: Generally it has no cause and is a very rare disease. • Immune-mediated diabetes: In this disease the pancreas cells are demolished by the immune system. And it is found to be the most common form.

What stimulates type 1 diabetes ?

Basically type 1 diabetes is developed due to halt in production of INSULIN in body. The immune system of body starts demolishing the cells in pancreas which produces insulin. That is why insulin is injected to the patients suffering with type 1 diabetes regularly.

Our body uses Glucose to produce energy. And without a proper amount of insulin glucose absorbed into the bloodstream rather getting into the cells. Thus body is unable to use glucose. Now due to increased bloodstream (with glucose) patient urinates more which further leads to increase thirst.

Symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes can never be predicted. Every case may have different symptoms due to different conditions. Some symptoms may be:

• Increased sugar levels in blood and urine
• Increased Hunger and thirst
• frequent urination
• frequent loss in weight
• blurred vision
• feeling restlessness
• fuzzy vision
• nausea and vomiting
• Pain in abdominal muscles
Treatment

Type 1 can’t be predicted or prevented. And one can’t get rid off completely hence needs womb-to-tomb treatment. The only effort one can do is to plan a proper diet with a number of do’s and dont’s. The first and the foremost thing is insulin injections at daily bases so that blood sugar level remains normal. The insulin pumps are also used instead of injections for the same purpose. Other measures in treatment may include:

• Proper diet to deal with blood sugar level.
• Frequent blood and urine tests to monitor the sugar level in blood.
• You need a very Positive attitude towards type diabetes. Every time you go for a treatment or sitting just be riveted towards your ailment.
